Have you ever gone to bed with that
old, familiar regret of not doing your part as a Christian? That all-important
responsibility entrusted to us by our Lord Jesus? He gave us clear instructions
to go into the world and spread the Good News. “And he said unto them, Go ye
into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (KJV).
Sadly, many Christians don’t. Many of us
have gotten complacent and are quite comfortable in our lives. We go to church
once a week (we do our duty) and bust out of the sanctuary quickly before we’re
held up in the lobby. Oh
no, please don’t let Peggy see me today…I don’t have time to volunteer next
month.
Are you truly satisfied with your work
for the Lord? When I had asked myself this question, I didn’t like my answer.
It wasn’t that my heart was unwilling to share the Gospel, but two things had
been holding me back…my supposed lack
of knowledge in the Word, and fear of
confrontation. It finally occurred to me that I had been tricked into believing
those lies for a long time.
These two reasons that led to my
reluctance in sharing the Gospel were clever tools used by the evil one.
Although they are highly effective tools, they were merely tools empowered by ME because of my willingness to accept those
simple deceptions. All too often we find ourselves picking up the crafted lies
that the devil places at our feet. Stop
doing that!
So, one day after hearing God’s Word, I
realized, “Of course, I’m qualified to share the Gospel!” And so are you, my friend!
And that fear we keep picking up…you
know, the fear that the enemy dresses up as real? Well that’s just another lie
he uses, hoping we’ll take our eyes off Jesus and lose trust in Him. Remember, “For
God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a
sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV). Equip
yourself with knowledge of His Word and when you let the guidance of the Holy
Spirit lead when you are sharing the Gospel, relax, there is no way you can
mess it up. No disastrous confrontations will arise when you allow the Holy
Spirit to work through you. When you want to witness to others, always pray
first and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance. And know that He is
working in you.
Lots of different tricks keep us from
doing the work of the Lord, but we can open our eyes and watch for those carefully
designed toe-stubbers and snares, which the enemy has prepared for us. When we are strong in the
Word, and recognize the goal of the devil, which is to destroy us, then we can
identify and avoid the innocent-looking traps he sets along our paths.
Remember, the devil isn’t going to announce to us that we are under attack and are being primed to wander away from God. The devil operates under an insidious nature…his goal is to separate us from God. And satan surely knows how much God loves us, that’s why he works so hard to spoil the hearts of man before Jesus returns to crush him.

The devil operates under an insidious nature…his goal is to separate us from God. And satan surely knows how much God loves us, that’s why he works so hard to spoil the hearts of man before Jesus returns to crush him.
Right now, the devil ravages the earth
seeking souls to devour. He knows that God has given us a free will and God
will not enter into sinful territory. The devil reigns in sin! He is the choreographer
of sin and he knows how to use it against us. When we engage in sinful
activities, sadly, we choose to separate ourselves from God and give way to the
devil.
So many people ask, "Why does God
allow tragedy?" But I think we must first understand, why do we hurt God?
With our free will, we often find
ourselves standing at the crossroads of life. One road is narrow and the other
road is very wide and appealing. Standing at the entry of that wide road is the
evil one with his alluring bait, ready to draw us in and away from God.
Sometimes we’re on guard and see the
devil’s maneuvers against us, but other times, we have taken our eyes off of
Jesus and let ourselves be distracted…lured away. When we commune with the Lord
daily and remain in His Word, we will be fully armed and prepared for battle
against the devil. When we venture away from the Lord and ignore His Word, we
virtually invite the evil one to tea. Stop
doing that!
The devil’s work is simple. He knows
what interests man and he uses the same techniques on all of us. “Put on the
whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the
devil.” Ephesians 6:11. (KJV). When
we are armed with the Word and wear our full Armor, the devil cowers. I like that!
We are invited by Christ to call upon
His authority any time. The Holy Spirit is indwelling and ready for action…rely
upon it! When we stand FIRM in the Word, we weaken the devil and limit his hand
in our lives.
I pray that you will remain firm in the
Word and not be distracted or tricked by the evil one. Put your Armor on every
morning and stay alert.
Now, go share the Word!
Thanks for visiting!
